Hey Walt. I was just reading a lot of your past posts and thought this was a really good one. Nice tie in to technology. I was wondering the same thing as you since I'm also with AT&T.

Hey Walt,
Too bad I read your article two months after it was written.

Since you covered the Gulf War for WSJ, you must have stopped by my home country, Kuwait. Well I just wanted to say that I am a huge fan.

Your article is well written and neutral and I wish Muslims and Jews could sit side by side as Jobs and Gates did in your interview :) I do pray that this region calms down and the bloodshed ends. I do envy you for making that trip, I hope one day I get to visit the Dome of the Rock.

I always thought San Diego had pretty good cellphone coverage. Until I spent some time in the jungles and mountains of Colombia. Even in mountain passes and deep in valleys that are 6-hour Land Rover jaunts from Bogotá, they have better cellphone coverage than we do here.

In the markets, amongst the vegetable vendors and independent emerald miners hawking their goods, you can find booths selling cellphone time for as little as 2 pesos a minute!

Maybe we should let their cellphone companies bid for our 700MHz spectrum?

A border is just a crossing and it can be a gateway to discovery and possibilities when your perspective is positive. Thanks Walt for stepping out of the box, tapping your experience and shedding some light and love. I want my children to someday see these sights - and they will go nowhere without their cell phones! I feel better about going now.

More comments that might upset Mr. Freed (but please those with a positive outlook) on my blog i-rant (www.i-rant.org)
